Wednesday wishes + Clutch

Besides being clutch (hah), I would also like to have one. I feel like I spend a lot of my time holding onto my phone when I'm not carrying a purse. Anyway, I've narrowed it down to two.

This one's been making the rounds on the Internet for awhile, but I kind of love it. It's simple, but that's how I like most accessories. All the colors are great too.

This one is more colorful (and slightly cheaper), but still works for a number of occasions.

Which one would you choose? :)

Leap + Year

A few notes about leap year:
  • Leap year happens every four years to keep Earth's revolutions around the sun aligned with the Gregorian Calendar.
  • According to an old Irish legend, women are allowed to propose to men today. Remember that terrible movie a couple years back? It's okay, I watched it for Mathew Goode in the fisherman sweater too.
  • There are a number of deals to look out for today including cheaper airline flights and hotels, food/drink specials, and more. If you're near a Chick-fil-A, please enjoy those free chick-n-minis for me.

via Susanna Hertrich
I say this a lot, but where does the time go? Can you believe spring is almost here? A couple days ago, I got a magazine in the mail advertising swimsuits which amazes me because it feels like New Year's was just yesterday.

Speaking of which, how are everyone's resolutions? I actually made a vision board (I know), even though I caught an episode of Happy Endings recently and found it more banal than before. I've been trying a lot of new places (at the expense of my wallet) and well, I'm still working on my posture. MITx hasn't started classes yet, but I'll keep you updated on that. And my resolution to get fit is slowly, but steadily progressing thanks to a pact a friend and I made. Details on that later.

Have a happy leap day!

Oscars + A few more golden statues to give

Overall, I enjoyed watching the Oscars even if it was safe and predictable. Some people were complaining about how Billy Crystal didn't have anything new or exciting planned, but I don't see how this came as a surprise. I do wish a few of these actors and movies below had received something as well.
via Vogue
Both Seth Myers and Kristen Wiig are such funny, talented people, and they're gorgeous in this shoot. I'm sad she didn't win anything last night, but judging from all the projects she has lined up, I'm sure she'll be at award shows again.

via Celeb Source
I haven't seen The Artist yet, but I'm a little disappointed that both these guys' and Gary Oldman's movies didn't get more love from the Oscars (except when The Descendants' won for adapted screenplay--Jim Rash!). Also, where did the Clooney/Pitt bromance go? I miss it!
via good wallpapers
And finally, I cannot believe that Transformers had more nominations than Drive. I don't even...

But what did everyone else think? I thought the Cirque du Soleil performance was fun, if a little random. Meryl Streep and Christopher Plummer had the best speeches. Fav dresses were Jessica Chastain's and Octavia Spencer's!

The Oscars are this weekend! I know I'm in the minority here...but I actually enjoy watching award shows. Yes, I know they're long and boring, but I like seeing how those brand-name stars mingle in their fancy dresses and how they react to winning or losing after such long campaigns. Besides listening to a great speech, I also like to hear the order in which people are thanked. The first thanks used to always be for God, but then they switched their priorities to moms, and now it's the academy they make sure to give a shout out to. Is that interesting to only me?

Wednesday wishes + Butter sticks

I like to check my stats page to see where readers are from and yesterday, someone who searched for "pretty fatties" landed on this blog. That made my day, and I hope whoever s/he was found what s/he was looking for.

Speaking of fatties, I'm desperately wishing for one of these.

Sorry for not posting earlier this week. Something wonky was happening with my internet. I hope these guys make up for it.

Wednesday wishes + Fortune cookies

via Diana Eng
I won't say no to a fortune cookie no matter how full I am or how bland I find them. There's just something so fun about cracking one open and reading what life has in store for me. How nifty are these two fortune cookies? One is an adorable coin purse and the other a giant chocolate-covered, fortune-telling treat!

Friday night links + A lovely weekend

How will you be celebrating the infamous Valentine's holiday? Dinner by candle-light? Cheery picnic? Romantic movie? Will you be busy at work or in school? I'll...be going to a tea party...Here are a few more options!

Puppy Conan! (via Team Coco)

I have been eating out way too much and am going to have to start packing my lunch at the very least. But I wanted to post a quick review of notable places I visited these past few weeks.

Spago was the epitome of class. The service was attentive, but not overbearing. The decor was quiet and refined. And most importantly, the food was delicious.

Little Next Door, on the other hand, was a terrible experience. I had friends drive over an hour for that mess. This sums up our night.

Finally, I went to a screening of This Means War at the Grove last night (not very good, but a few laughs), and they offered free appetizers and drinks at The Farm of Beverly Hills beforehand. The service was great, and the food was great. It's a small, chic place that I definitely plan on visiting again. We could've ended it there as a free night out, but of course, we decided to cross something off our restaurant list by visiting Red Medicine. I felt like I enjoyed the food more than my friend and found each dish to be well-done and very pretty to look at (I am such a sucker). The drinks were weak, and everything was over-priced, but I want to go again anyway. I guess I haven't learned my lesson yet.

Whatever you're doing this weekend, whether it's a night out or a night in, have a lovely one ♥.

Friday night links + A super-duper weekend

via The Fancy
A couple of my friends have been sending me these really interesting articles/videos lately. I love the puppy videos (keep sending them, please!), but I also appreciate these discussions that have been springing up. This video by RSA is about our education system. It's worth watching just to see the very cool animation and drawings, but the speaker also brings up some interesting points. For the most part, I feel like he doesn't come up with any solid alternatives, but I do agree with most of the issues he brings up. What do you think? (via Youtube)

This article about ending friendship is also worth reading. It's kind of scary to think about, but I'm sure everyone has felt this way about someone at one point or another. (via A CUP OF JO)
