Weekend update + The City

I'm doing it! A friend and I are driving up to Nor-cal at the crack of dawn today to visit college buddies and law schools. I probably won't be able to update the blog until Wednesday or Thursday, but I would love to know how your holiday weekend is going. Until then, continue having a good one.☺

Friday night links + A Memorial Day weekend

via Javier Carrete
Summer is starting, and it's a long weekend! We're celebrating my brothers' birthday, and I'm also thinking about making a last-minute drive up to San Francisco and Davis to visit more law schools. What are your plans?

Wisdom teeth + Yelp parties

I was in the middle of getting a cavity filled yesterday (TMI, I know) when my dentist suddenly declared that I had to get my wisdom teeth taken out before it got any worse. As a result, I haven't eaten since 9AM yesterday and desperately want to take a bite out of these toothy-looking cupcakes.

There's also a big yelp event tonight I've been looking forward to. How will I take full advantage of all the free food now? The problems I am plagued with are no joke.

I have a serious obsession with wallpaper and love a good book, so this combo makes me happier than it should.

Ice cream + Drinks

As you may know, I am an ardent fan of ice cream and therefore find these recipes irresistible. I'm definitely trying a couple of these soon.

Friday night links + A liberating weekend

via Fancy

Spring seems to be having its last hurrah with all these festivals popping up everywhere, so make sure to visit at least one before they're over! Then again, there are always summer festivals to look forward to.

In that vein, I think these braided hairstyles would be perfect for festival-goers. And everyone else. (via Refinery29)

Whales + Tissue holders

Speaking of things that don't matter, I think tissue holders are completely extraneous. Do we really need a box for something that already comes in a pretty box? That's what my brain is saying anyway. My heart is currently coveting these adorable whales.

Friday night links + A wonderful weekend

via Fancy
Is it Friday already? I have to make my final decision for law school next Monday! Unless I get off a wait-list, I've narrowed down my choices to either moving to Wisconsin or staying in LA. I really like the school in Madison, but the idea of leaving California leaves me torn. What to do?

I also have to keep my resolution of taking a MIT class☺. Physics stopped me, but I'm excited to hear that Harvard is joining the game. I'll update you on when they offer the next class! (via NY Times)

An honest post about how blogs over-embrace perfection and sweep real life under the rug. I have to admit that I like seeing (and posting) pretty things and shy away from anything too personal or serious, but it's nice to read such genuine thoughts and opinions. (via Creature Comforts)

Have a great weekend everyone, and remember to spend time with your momma .

Cheese + Lobster

Hello hello! I said I would write about my experiences visiting schools in the Midwest and East Coast around a month ago and completely...did not. As a weak substitute, here are some pictures taken on my phone from the last couple of months. Several highlights for me include the unexpected beauty of Madison, the lobster in Boston, visiting Rhode Island for the first time, partying with a friend in New York City, and always, always, enjoying the creations of culinary artists all over. I also hope you noticed the cupcakes that my good friend from roxpaperscissors made. What a whoopensocker.

Wednesday wishes + A bike guardian

This dog, Li Li, is adorable.
I've always wanted a dog, but don't have the time to properly take care of one. I found a temporary solution a few months ago when I started volunteering at the local animal shelter and would definitely recommend spending time at an animal adoption center if you are a) seriously considering getting a pet, b) want to volunteer at your own pace, and/or c) want to spend time with dogs/cats/etc. without the commitment of getting one. Hopefully, I'll be able take one home in a few years, but for now, I'll stick to watching these videos and spending a few hours a week with our furry friends.
