Friday night links + A persevering weekend

Another example of patience: a man edits 1,000,000 Wikipedia articles for free. (via Gizmodo)
It's been awhile, but...sample sales are back! If you're in LA, eight are available for your pleasure from 9:30-5PM. That's a full day of work, so get busy. (via Racked LA)
This summer, you can join a big LA vs. SF car rally that involves exploring abandoned mine shafts and egg fights in the middle of the night. I understand the thrill of scavenger hunts, but I wouldn't volunteer my car to be egged and pelted with smoke bombs. If you have an extremely nice friend or an extremely old car, it costs $142 per carload. (via Thrillist)
Witty thank you notes from the famous. (via Mental Floss)
Love this canary yellow + violet blue combo. And drooling over those sandals. And that ring! (via Creature Comforts Blog)
Like many, I believe breakfast is good for you, but these precise percentages do make me scoff. The illustrations accompanying the statistics, however, are much too cute to ignore. (via Co.Exist)
Beautiful before + after. (via Design*Sponge)
I'll be going to more law school events (still!) this weekend and am also planning on working in some shopping. There's a beauty event going on at the cosmetics section in Bloomingdales; I have some store credit at Macy's left to spend, and I want to look for a gift for Mother's Day. I'm trying my hardest to make up for not buying that Zara dress a few of posts down...although that definitely wasn't from lack of effort. It's not available in store or online! I sense a conspiracy. Maybe.
Have a great weekend as always, everyone ♥.

Chocolate + Stress
-eating. It's the middle of the night, and I just devoured a whole bar of Toblerone while trying to decide whether or not to send in my deposits for law school. How do you guys deal with stress? I have a friend who can't eat when she's stressed -- if only I were so lucky.

Fishtails + Trends
Speaking of hair, I've noticed a lot of chic-looking women sporting fishtail braids lately and wanted to give it a try. There's a simple tutorial on Wit + Delight, and for the direction-challenged (me), there are minute long tutorials on Youtube as well. After a few false starts, I discovered to my delight that it only takes around five minutes to braid. I can't wait to show it off when I go out tonight!

My hair is either up in a ponytail or left as is. I really should start experimenting, starting with this look.

Choices + Important decisions
“We often feel paralyzed by choice and make no choice. But the thing is, no choice is a choice. If you’re not doing something about it, you’re doing something about it.”

Gorgeous colors + Semi-important decisions
Apparently, I can't wait until Wednesday to add to my never-ending wishlist. The neckline of this dress is really unique, and I'm kind of in love with it.
I should not be buying more clothes right now...should I get it?

What. Apparently my Kobe beef slider was a fake. (via Forbes)
Bar soap for germ-a-phobes. (via Dave Hakkens)
This sounds cool. Tell the founders of The Interesting Organization (interesting.org) about an idea that you're working on, and you might get a chance to stay on a private island in Palawan, Philippines to finish said idea for free (but really $50 a day for a caretaker and maintenance crew). (via Ideas Island)
This is uncool. Baylor Law School accidentally released the names, GPA, LSAT score, home address, undergraduate institution, scholarship offers, and ethnicity of every undecided admitted student to every undecided admitted student. The school later apologized and asked everyone to delete the email...obviously, somebody is getting sued. (via Above The Law)
If you're in LA, Beastie Boy Mike D is blending audio and visual art for your enjoyment. The event will run from April 20 - May 6 at the Geffen Contemporary at MoCA. (via Transmission LA: AV Club)
And for book lovers, LA Times is holding a book festival this weekend at USC. (via LA Times)
Have a good weekend, everyone ☺.

Coffee lovers + Ingredients
I had no idea the espresso played such a big part in this coffee business. I'm excited for the next time I order a drink because I'll actually know what I'm drinking.

Why do we never seem to finish growing up? Even though my teen years are (unfortunately) long behind me, it sometimes feels like life has yet to start.

There was a stylish lady on the subway who rocked some Oxfords, and I've wanted a pair ever since. (via Nordstrom)
I also want these sandals. Just because. (via Free People)
It's gloomy and dreary today, but it's definitely spring. There are cherry blossoms everywhere. I've noticed them in Wisconsin, Boston, New York, and even in smog-filled Los Angeles. I hope you've been enjoying the blooms as much as I have. ♥

Wednesday wishes + Push pins
I have this little obsession with push pins which really just means I always have to have a board and some pins around to play with. If I could change my blog name (and I really want to), I would name it something like Push-pin or Pinned Faves or Pin...terest... But that does begin to sound a little too familiar.
So onto these. The triangle ones are my fave.

Get enough of your buddies to buy tickets, and you could end up choosing which movie you want played at the theaters. (via Tugg)
This about sums up my view on Channing Tatum. He has pretty muscles, but zero acting skills, so I did not understand why he keeps getting these leading man roles. Plus, he's been casted in a dozen of big-shot movies. And has a Steven Soderbergh movie coming up about HIS life. He's thirty-one. But these pictures make him so likeable. And he sounds hard-working and respectful. I guess I'm becoming a fan too. (via Lainey Gossip)
Cute. I might choose San Diego law school for its masked, crime-fighting dean. (via Motions Online)

One of my college roommates had a bet with her friend that flying cars will be readily available for the--excuse our snobbery--upper middle class in 50 years or less. Looks like she'll be coming into some money. (via NPR)
Have a good one.

Beauty inside + out
There are a bunch of half-written entries that I can't seem to finish, but I'm forcing myself to write this one because a) that's how I get most things done and b) this article is awesome.
Anya Strzemien from Huffington Post recently wrote about how often people (especially women) put down their appearances and is trying to put a damper on this by donating $1 to Girls Inc. for every kind comment posted on her article. She's hoping for 5,000 comments by April 10th, so hurry and say something nice about yourself!
I should be posting regularly again soon so look out for my experience with the Midwest and East Coast, more book reviews, personal thoughts, and of course, some very pretty pictures. Thanks for sticking around! ♥
